Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer

I’ll be closing out 2016 with my contributions to this outstanding new 4K restoration of HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER from Dark Sky Films. In addition to the previously produced DVD extras by Blue Underground, I produced three new pieces including IN DEFENSE OF HENRY – a critical appreciation think-piece with Errol Morris, Joe Swanberg, Kim Morgan and more. IT’S EITHER YOU…OR THEM – an interview with controversial artist (and HENRY poster painter) Joe Coleman. Lastly, I collaborated with writer Adam Rockoff for HENRY VS. THE MPAA  an illuminating overview of the film’s 30 year censorship battle – narrated by Pat Healy.

HENRY streets on December 3rd.

Shock and Gore: The Films of Herschell Gordon Lewis

I’m very happy to have produced the new series of bonus features for Arrow Video’s Shock and Gore: The Films of Herschell Gordon Lewis. For this epic, blood-soaked 14 movie collection; I produced new introductions with Lewis himself, curated a series of new and archival interviews with him, cut together a duo of tongue-in-cheek visual essays, and invited a host of contemporary filmmakers and historians to discuss Lewis’ work and his impact on the landscape of American exploitation cinema.

I, Dolemite

dolemite

On April 26th, Vinegar Syndrome will release DOLEMITE for the first time, in a brand-new fully loaded extras-packed Blu-ray. This new special edition contains the first in my four-part documentary series that I directed and edited called I, DOLEMITE.

Dolemite (Rudy Ray Moore), the baddest pimp in town, has just been released from prison, ready to take revenge on notorious gangster Willie Green (D’Urville Martin), who set him up on a phony drug charge and stole his club, The Total Experience.

With the help of his friend Queen Bee (Lady Reed) and their band of Kung Fu fighting vixens, Dolemite takes on every “rat soup eatin’ motherf#%*er” in South Central.

The American Horror Project

Arrow Films will unleash their first volume of THE AMERICAN HORROR PROJECT on February 23rd. This triple dose of regional horror obscurities from the 1970s will include THE WITCH WHO CAME FROM THE SEA, THE PREMONITION and MALATESTA’S CARNIVAL OF BLOOD.

I produced brand new bonus features for all three films in this collection, which is (hopefully) a sign of more to come in this exciting series…

The American Dreamer

On September 22nd, Etiquette Pictures proudly presents L.M. Kit Carson and Lawrence Schiller’s documentary THE AMERICAN DREAMER.  This film followed the post-production process of Dennis Hopper’s THE LAST MOVIE in 1970 and will be available for the first time ever on home video. I produced the making-of entitled FIGHTING AGAINST THE WIND, featuring exclusive interviews with documentarian Lawrence Schiller, THE LAST MOVIE producer and executive producer Paul Lewis and Michael Gruskoff, actress Julie Adams and documentary cameraman Chuck Levey.

The Doctor Will See You…Dead!

UK-based Odeon Entertainment Group will release Antony Balch’s HORROR HOSPITAL on Blu-ray in August of 2015. This new HD master will also include the audio commentary track that I originally produced for Dark Sky Films back in 2008 with Producer Richard Gordon, moderated by historian Tom Weaver.

Legendary graphic artist Graham Humphreys provides the stunning new artwork…

Roommates Wanted

Back in 2007, I began work on the Arthur Marks titles for MPI Media Group. Those films included LINDA LOVELACE FOR PRESIDENT, THE CENTERFOLD GIRLS and BONNIE’S KIDS.  Finally, the remaining titles from Marks’ General Film Corp will be released on DVD + Blu-ray: THE ROOMMATES and A WOMAN FOR ALL MEN. I’m particularly happy to finally share the final interview actress Roberta Collins gave before she passed away. It was shot during a difficult time for Bobbi, following the death of her son. She wanted to do the interview for him, calling him “her biggest supporter”.

I worked hard to make her feel comfortable and to put her mind at ease during the session. I’ll always remember the time we spent together, leading up to the interview and a few times after, with great fondness. Bobbi was a vivacious spirit. Her role in THE ROOMMATES is a prime example of what made her the Joan Blondell of drive-in movie screens. I dedicated the final piece to her memory and I hope fans will enjoy the candid interview. THE ROOMMATES/A WOMAN FOR ALL MEN streets on March 24th.

Kiss My F.I.S.T.

On February 10th, 2015 Kino Lorber will release F.I.S.T. starring Sylvester Stallone. For this piece, I produced and edited the 18-minute featurette entitled The Fight for F.I.S.T., which details the film’s – ahem – rocky production. The piece includes great interviews with screenwriter Joe Eszterhas and director Norman Jewison.
